JDL was engaged by long-time client, The DSF Group, to assist in the site selection and construction of their new Boston headquarters. The search landed the company at 341 Newbury Street – a property that had just undergone a conversion from a parking garage to office space. As a result, the space came with a unique set of challenges and problems to be solved.
JDL was engaged early on to deliver preconstruction services that would help align the goals of delivering a high-end space in financially responsible manner. JDL’s early investigation into the site conditions revealed challenges within the space that were addressed and accounted for early in the process. Doing so allowed the project team to move forward with a high level of confidence in the overall project design and budget.
Client-facing in nature, The DSF Group envisioned a high-impact aesthetic for this space – one which we were excited to be able to execute. The reception area features a massive moss wall, reclaimed wood paneling, brick veneered walls, and exposed concrete floors. Glass partitions with black aluminum mullions were used throughout the space to give it a modern-industrial feel. The café and lounge area is designed after a local speakeasy concept and features tin—ceilings, antique chandeliers, and weathered oak cabinetry.
