JDL was engaged by Simon-Kucher, a global strategy consulting firm, to build out their Boston area headquarters.
Prior to mobilizing on site, JDL was engaged for preconstruction services and evaluated several potential locations for the new office. Simon-Kucher selected One Boston Place – a tower conveniently bordering both of Boston’s Downtown Crossing & Financial District neighborhoods.
The 32k square foot fit out spanned multiple stories and thus part of the project included a new industrial looking interconnecting staircase. JDL worked with the project team to ensure the staircase was designed in a manner that best-utilized the existing building structural elements.
The bold design for the office space features dark exposed ceilings with rich contrasting wooden ceilings. The cool gray tones in the walls and floors are juxtaposed with bright moss wall installations and a custom skyline mural constructed out of neon lighting.
The perimeter columns were cut back to expose as much of the towering city views as possible. A custom marble and reclaimed wood reception desk and a moss feature signage wall provide a dramatic entry to visitors and employees.
