JDL was engaged to deliver the Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care project in Haverhill, Massachusetts. While the project was originally scheduled to begin in 2024, unforeseen permitting delays within the City of Haverhill postponed the groundbreaking to March 2025. Once approvals were secured, JDL collaborated closely with Scrivanos to accelerate progress and ensure the project moved forward without further delay.
Throughout construction, JDL worked in partnership with David Saltzman Architectural and Rimkus Engineers to address unanticipated site conditions, providing practical solutions and maintaining the project’s momentum. This collaborative approach ensured that both functional and aesthetic goals were achieved.
The finished space reflects the project’s vision: a light, welcoming environment brought to life through warm millwork, calming paint selections, and a thoughtfully designed lighting plan. Beyond the architectural details, JDL prioritized the operational needs of healthcare staff, incorporating specialized utilities essential to an urgent care facility. These included a fully fire-rated X-ray room, secure pharmaceutical storage per code, specimen pass-throughs, and other critical infrastructure to support daily medical operations.
As the project reached completion, JDL successfully navigated the City of Haverhill’s Certificate of Occupancy process for the first time, ensuring a smooth transition to occupancy. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of subcontractors, consultants, and the project team, JDL delivered a state-of-the-art urgent care facility that exceeded expectations and was completed ahead of schedule.
