Last night a couple people from our JDL team attending Heading Home’s Housewarming Event at SoWa Power Station. JDL was thrilled to be a sponsor at such an incredible charity event.
The event was an evening of mingling, sipping and sampling, and celebrating the power of doing good with 500+ Boston leaders. There were 14 restaurants that partnered with Heading Home for the Housewarming event including Dumpling Daughter, Lolita, Fat Baby, Tatte and more! The consensus of the night were that the dumplings were out of this world.
Heading Home is one of Boston’s leading providers of emergency shelter, transitional, and permanent housing for extremely low-income families and individuals currently or formerly experiencing homelessness. Our housing-plus-services approach sets clients on a pathway to self-sufficiency.
This past year they supported 1,311 people, 691 of them were children and 620 were adults. 86 households left homelessness behind and moved into a permanent home, 97% of those households remained in permanent housing one year after leaving the shelter, 90% of single-parent-led families were led by a mother, and 83% of people identified as non-white and/or Hispanic/Latinx.
Supporting charities such as Heading Home is of utmost importance to us at JDL, as it serves as a reminder that we never know what others may be going through. Giving back to our community is therefore an essential aspect of our mission.
