COR’s new flagship showroom and headquarters is now open in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood!
The 16,000 square foot location is housed within a landmark 19th century brick and beam building. The distinctive architecture of the property is the perfect backdrop for showcasing COR’s latest curation of high-end offerings.
JDL and COR partnered to implement a mix of modular and traditional stick-built construction practices for various elements within the space. The JDL preconstruction group also assisted in the development of several architectural details that would help to achieve specific aesthetic, acoustic, and flexibility goals established by the project team. These included several novel ceiling and header details which would serve as the foundation for the various architectural storefront systems.
COR’s new showroom will not only serve as a space for sales and events but will also double as the group’s corporate headquarters and the main office for Boston employees. As a result, there are a large variety of workspaces on display and in-use; ranging from private offices and individual phone booths to large board rooms and function spaces.
The Cafe area serves as the main gathering location in the new space. The dark cabinetry with black marble counter tops is contrasted by striking brass hardware and fixtures.
In the meeting and huddle spaces, a suspended wood beam trellis system plays off of the building’s exposed wood structural beams. Felt baffles suspended within the trellis system preserve the open and airy tone, while contributing acoustical properties to the room.
Taking place within a recently converted historical building, one of the most challenging aspects of this project was working to align newly constructed elements with the existing building structure and characteristics. Sub-floor preparation had to be painstakingly coordinated with large-format ceramic tile and glazing systems with narrow tolerances. Routing of mechanical systems with massive duct runs were analyzed down to fractions of an inch to ensure proper clearances for the architectural timber beams that were installed.
Creative Office Resources was established when two industry leaders, Creative Office Pavilion and Office Resources, merged in January 2022. As the largest MillerKnoll dealer in the country, COR is dedicated to shaping spaces that inspire collaboration and evolve community.
