Project Update: Beth Israel Lahey Health Clinic | Watertown

Building the Foundation

JDL has partnered with Beth Israel Lahey Health, David Saltzman and C3 Engineering to build out BILH’s new Primary Care Clinic on the 1st floor of 480 Pleasant Street in Watertown. Currently, JDL is focused on the critical task of installing the plumbing infrastructure beneath the concrete slab.

To accommodate new sinks, toilets, and drains, we meticulously marked the plumbing layout on the ground, designating two-foot-wide trenches for the necessary piping. Once the layout was set, we used concrete saws to cut the trenches, allowing us to remove the concrete and soil.

With the trenches cleared, our plumbers installed the new piping infrastructure, followed by backfilling the trenches with recycled soil and sand around the pipes to ensure stability. An inspection was then conducted to confirm that the infrastructure met all state regulations and standards.

After passing the inspection, we proceeded with the concrete infill, refilling the trenches and restoring the slab to its original state, effectively concealing the newly installed infrastructure. With the underground work complete, we are now moving on to framing walls as we continue building Beth Israel Lahey Health’s new Primary Care Clinic.
