JDL has partnered with FoxRock Properties to completely renovate the 1,650-square-foot, three-level lobby at 176 Federal St in the heart of downtown Boston. This six-story office building now features a refreshed and vibrant space that merges functionality with a playful, boutique hotel ambiance.
The lobby at 176 Federal St is uniquely home to four cockatiel parrots, who have long been an integral part of the building’s charm. The architects at Fusion Design and Consultants aimed to highlight the significance of these birds by incorporating a vibrant, bird-themed design. This artistic approach is reflected throughout the lobby, from perch tree chandeliers to parakeet-inspired wall coverings, creating an environment that is both whimsical and modern.
One of our unique tasks in this renovation was constructing a brand-new custom bronze mesh bird cage for the parrots. This cage is surrounded by wood veneer paneling that extends up three floors, covering the entire elevator lobby wall and adding to the space’s cohesive design.
In addition to the bird-themed elements, the renovation includes a range of high-end, custom finishes. These enhancements include custom floor tiles from Italy, a striking floor-to-ceiling rainforest mural, and an exquisite Wend Morrison carpet from Nepal. Each detail contributes to the lobby’s completely modernized and elevated look, making it a standout feature of 176 Federal St.
JDL was honored to collaborate with Fusion Design Consultants and C3 Engineers to deliver a stunning, updated lobby for FoxRock and the tenants of 176 Federal Street. If you have the chance, we highly recommend visiting the space. It’s not just a lobby; it’s a true work of art.
