JDL was onboarded by BXP alongside Currie Project Management to complete the build out of Constant Contact’s new 30,500 SF headquarters in Waltham, MA. VCA and AVID engineering thoughtfully designed this space to emphasize collaboration and a sense of community, and with JDL’s direction and the dedicated work of all parties involved this vision was brought to life.
The once white walled, hollow interior was transformed into a space fit for the modern work force with 10 office spaces, 8 conference rooms, 8 huddle rooms, 4 team rooms, 4 private phone booths, a creative studio, and a boardroom. These private rooms enclosed with full glazing fronts are connected by 5 open workspaces, a welcoming kitchenette, a lounge area, and a recreational with arcade games to promote unity and camaraderie. As this office is surrounded by windows on all sides, the design team followed suit with light and airy finishes, such as polished countertops and lighter toned cabinetry and carpets, brightening the space. The open floor concept is enhanced with majority open ceilings, all having been sprayed with K-13 to maintain ceiling height rather than being enclosed by a hard ceiling. That being said, the size of this space posed challenges at times. The spraying of K-13 and coring work had longer durations than expected as there was approximately 30,000 square feet to be sprayed and upwards of 30 cores to be completed.
JDL worked with both the building and effected subcontractors to complete this work and maintain schedule, which was achieved earlier than contracted.
