Seaport East Fitness Center

2 Seaport Lane, Boston

JDL transformed a fully demolished space into a new fitness center for Pembroke, delivering a complete wellness program: a cardio and strength area, a dedicated yoga studio, a locker room, and four private shower rooms.

The design called for detailing well beyond a typical fitness build-out. Visitors enter beneath a custom mesh ceiling with integrated LED lighting, suspended above a multi-layered millwork feature wall that sets the tone for the space. Warm, real-wood finishes carry through the entry cabinetry, shower room casework, locker room towel drops, media wall, and yoga studio mirror frame, bringing a hospitality sensibility to an athletic environment. Overhead, specialty turf ceilings add texture and energy to the workout areas, while three distinct rubber flooring assemblies are tuned to the demands of each zone.

The finish package was completed with new fitness mirrors, illuminated specialty mirrors, floor and wall tile throughout the shower and locker rooms, two wallcovering types, and double glass entry doors.

Several of the project’s signature elements were long-lead, custom systems that required close coordination. The mesh ceiling and its integrated lighting, along with turf ceilings that house speakers, lighting, mechanical diffusers, and fire protection devices, demanded tight sequencing across trades to deliver clean, seamless finished surfaces.

This project adds to JDL’s growing portfolio of premium amenity spaces delivered within Boston’s Class A office buildings.
