JDL Attends Advancing Preconstruction Conference in San Diego

Last week, JDL attended the Advancing Preconstruction Conference in San Diego, CA — a major industry event focused on the evolving tools, ideas, and methods that are shaping the future of preconstruction.

This year’s conference brought together over 1,200 professionals from across the construction landscape, including general contractors, developers, designers, and tech experts. The four-day event was filled with presentations, roundtables, and informal conversations all geared toward one shared purpose: improving how teams work together and make decisions in the earliest stages of a project.

The sessions offered a look into how the industry is shifting. We heard firsthand how teams are adopting new technologies to streamline estimating, improve early design coordination, and better leverage data throughout preconstruction. Topics like model-based estimating and real-time collaboration tools offered practical insights that directly connect with how we work at JDL.

We were especially engaged by sessions focused on owner-architect coordination and using technology to close gaps in early-stage planning. These conversations echoed much of what we prioritize in our own approach: creating transparency, building trust early, and making decisions that lead to better outcomes.

At JDL, we’re always looking ahead. Whether it’s new software, smarter workflows, or stronger partnerships, we believe in staying proactive and informed. Conferences like Advancing Preconstruction help us keep pace with where the industry is headed and ensure our clients continue to benefit from efficient and forward-thinking preconstruction services.

We’re excited to bring these insights back to our team and apply them to our upcoming work.
